Due to its low cost and high EMF, the Type J Thermocouple is frequently utilized. It can be used at temperatures up to 760°C that are oxidizing. Large wire diameters are suggested for use at higher temperatures. The Type J thermocouple can be used in an oxidizing, reducing, or vacuum environment.
J-type thermocouple is a type of temperature sensor that is commonly used in industrial and scientific applications to measure temperatures in the range of -210°C to 1200°C (-346°F to 2192°F). It consists of two different metal wires (ou “legs”), typically made of iron and constantan, that are joined together at one end to form a sensing junction. When this junction is exposed to a temperature difference, an electromotive force (EMF) is generated, which can be measured and used to calculate the temperature.
One of the advantages of J-type thermocouples is their relatively low cost and high sensitivity, which makes them well-suited for a wide range of applications. They are also durable, and can withstand harsh environments, including high temperatures, vibration, and corrosive chemicals.
